We are one of the only transparent, nonprofit charitable organizations dedicated solely to the purpose of humanitarian work built on the guiding principles of Engin Akyürek’s way of life.

So far, Friends of Engin Akyürek has a global bi-monthly social media reach of over 400,000 accounts in over 30 countries touching a friend base of Engin Akyürek admirers ranging in age from as young as 14 years old to as wise as over 90 years old. We have introduced countless new friends to the work of Mr. Akyürek and shared translations of his writings from the publication Kafasına Göre and other media as it has appeared. Additionally, we have spearheaded an effort to improve the online experience for social media friends through a cybercrime awareness campaign geared toward the growing threat aimed at Engin Akyürek followers.

Moving forward, we expect to directly impact the communities in Türkiye identified by Mr. Akyürek as those that need our assistance.

Despite having only just begun (501c3 organization: end of March 2022, bylaws: mid-August 2022) and still developing some of our programs, we ensure that 95-99% of contributions received go directly to our primary mission, assisting vulnerable Turkish children and families in Mr. Akyürek’s honor. During the initial stages of the first few months of existence, depending on the amount of donations received, we may require a bit more of that 4% as we work to establish our secure network of programs.

Our 501(c)3, tax exempt organization is a not-for-profit organization that is established exclusively for charitable purposes.

A 501(c)3 organization is a not-for-profit organization with tax exempt status, dedicated to the general well-being of society. As dictated by the US government taxing authority (Internal Revenue Service) subsection 501(c), a strict set of regulations are adhered to, in order to maintain 501(c)3 status. Donations made to the organization may be tax exempt for some donors.

Our expenses are mostly expected to be covered by generous private donors, our members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Council Members. During the initial setup period, we may minimally rely on public donations, with donors’ consent, to assist in establishing our programs. We have almost non-existent overhead costs.
